What does this week look like for you?

Congratulations, Roger! What great weight loss! Maybe you could comment on what has worked so well for you thus far??

I'm doing a mental review of what is happening this week, and I'm going to need a will of steel to have any loss at all next Monday. Today is my daughter Coral's birthday. She is 28. In case you are reading this and aren't familiar with our family, she has cerebral palsy (considered severe) and has a wheelchair as her constant companion. In fact, it is quite clearly an extension of herself. We must talk in code if anything on it needs fixing, as such an event is truly unconscionable, and any talk about it will precipitate a "scene," to put it nicely! All this to say that tonight we are celebrating 28 great years with pizza and ice-cream cake (her personal favorites). Woo-hoo for my waistline!

Then Thursday is Thanksgiving where I live, so guess what is happening in my house? A turkey will be roasting to a delicious golden brown, I will be whipping potatoes with butter and sour cream, there will be stuffing and all the trimmings, and pie with whipped cream for dessert! Oh, dear! The good thing about hosting this at my house, though, is that I will be too busy to do the overeating of which I know I am capable.

Your prayers for my self-control will be truly appreciated, and I'll be praying for yours, too. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." --Galatians 5:22,23

Thank you SO much for posting!
Tell her Aunt Carol says "Happy Birthday" again on the blog!

Roger does take the prize for last week! What's our prize?? Maybe the need for a little less length of belt!

Have a good day at your house!
NO snacks between meals J Blue!

P.S.
There ya go ... spiritual food ... "the fruit of the Spirit"!

I'm going back in there and put that "fruit" in bold! I never even thought of it as food! Ha ha!

Coral was quite thrilled with her birthday. Aunt Paula came over last Friday and asked Coral if she could take Elmo (the big one that is about 3 feet tall) shopping. Coral said yes, and she was pretty intrigued with that. Paula took him to the Goodwill and made him try on clothes!! She bought several outfits, complete with a pair of BVDs!!! All for under $10! Last night Coral got to unwrap the clothes for Elmo and got the biggest laugh out of it.

Just for the record, Elmo takes a kids size 4 in pant and a size 7 in a shirt. What does THAT say about his shape!!

Oh Paula! She had such a good idea! Umm ... OK, Coral, Aunt Carol wants to see a picture of Elmo all dressed up in his Good Will finery! Let's get a little bold, shall we -- how 'bout a flash of his BVD's?

Hey -- what do "BVD's" stand for anyway? Be Very Discreet in your reply!

Coral is squealing with delight over the idea of taking Elmo's pictures and sending them to you via the blog! So I promised her that tomorrow late afternoon we will do it! I'll be posting a comment after I figure out where the cable is for hooking the camera to the computer...??? (Do you know how many cables there are in this house?)

BVD
I went right to the source for this, taken from www.bvd.com

"BVD, founded in 1876 by three gentlemen, Messrs. Bradley, Voorhees and Day, is one of the most famous and historically innovative brands in America.

Today, the legendary quality of BVD continues with contemporary offerings for both men and boys. Comfortably fashioned from fine combed cotton and cotton-rich fabrics with a lustrous hand, you'll appreciate the supremely soft feel next to your skin."

Do you have a more interesting for what it stands for, sister dear?? Careful, now!

Bradley, Voorhees and Day! How dry and unimaginative! BVD's! Just for their little names! Well, there ya go! Things don't have to be catchy and imaginative to stick! This little slogan has been around since ... when?... 1876?! ... that's further back than my computation ability (as you know, like Merle S, I don't believe in math!)

Happy belated birthday to Cora

Jeanette said...

Thanks, Amrita! Coral is still enjoying her birthday, so your wishes are not belated at all. As you can see from my last post, we have had lots of fun dressing Elmo in his new clothes for his photo op!

Carol-Ann, it was news to me about the meaning of BVD! You learn something new every day! And you are so right, that catchy little acronym has really stuck.
