Holiday Binging is Officially Over!

I am hereby notifying myself that my permission to eat extra holiday stuff is over. I am once again on a strict regimen of:
Drink more water.
Eat less. (Note to self -- that means no leftover holiday sweets!)
Move around more.

Tomorrow begins my exercise program of 20 to 30 minutes on the treadmill starting no later than 6:30 a.m. (groan!) and a 15-minute afternoon break for free weights. Yes, there is a price to pay for this. I will have to be more strict about my time. I will have to go to bed earlier, which is very hard for me, the queen of night owls! But I am at the same time unexpectedly excited about starting this new routine. I'm mystified by that at the moment, but I do like to live by plans and lists (that gene is straight from my mother!), so maybe that is part of it.

Weigh-in is tomorrow, everyone! Best wishes!

This is such a funny post to me because we both know how Mom operates by lists and plans and details and routines!

When Kinza was born I had to use a diaper service because she was too tiny for disposables. Mom tried to talk me into washing out my own diapers by just "setting up a system". I knew I couldn't be counted on keeping up with it simply because I had the where-with-all to have the diaper service! Some things you do if you HAVE to! But all things do run better if there is a SYSTEM!

I'm working on a plan for exercise -- just not quite there yet! Maybe by next Monday! :)

We shall reach our goals, girls!
What's your exercise routine, Pat? Maybe you already do this on a regular basis!

Ooops! Sorry, Roger! I know shall reach your goal as well! It was good to see you didn't lose much ground over the Christmas season!

Good for you, Carol-Ann! And Roger has done well at hold his own, too! Oh, dear! What will my weight be? I am on the fly, here, but shall be back to post weights... Just finished my walking. 20 minutes of concentrated walking is obviously not something I'm used to! 2.8 to 3.0 mph with 1.5 incline...hmm, what is this trembly feeling in my legs??? Methinks I am way out of shape!

Now on to the morning routine with Coral, then I shall be back with the weigh-in!

I am thrilled with Pat's weight loss and hope to be able to keep up with her now that I have started my exercise routine. I'm also pleased that I was able to show a tiny bit of progress today instead of my previous trend.

I know I got a direct hit on that planning-and-lists gene, Carol-Ann! If there is a problem, I can best solve it by sitting down and writing out a plan!! Ha ha! I think I am turning into my mother!

Carol:
My "exercise plan" is simply not to sit in front of the computer or TV all evening, after sitting at my desk/computer all day at the office. I putter around the house - there's always something that needs cleaning!

When the weather improves in the spring, I will resume walking home from the GO train station every evening (unless it's really pouring rain). That is about a 25 minute walk at a brisk pace (3.3 km or 2 miles).

Hey Pat!
Congratulations on winning another round! Hmmmm! This is very good having you on board because otherwise Jeanette and I might coddle each other along indefinitely, going two steps forward and slipping 1.9 back!

Way to go, J Blue! Puffing a bit are ya? So ... we need updates as to how this goes! Indications of strength ... having to cut back ... ability to increase!

I am holding out for awhile on the exercise routine but I'll get there! Too many irons in my little fire right now! You know the old saying -- "One person can't roast two rats"!

Jeanette said...

Hi there, C-A! Well, I have a feeling I am the only one who knows that old saying! For everyone else, it is an African proverb meaning that you can only roast one rat to perfection at a time. If you try to do two, neither will be cooked just right! Don't worry. We are cutting you some slack on how many irons are in your fire!

I am more than happy to share my weight routine as started this p.m. If anyone is interested, I'll post about it, so let me know. The nice thing about weights is that you can do the exercises wherever you are. But you do have to be careful to start with light weights and build up. I started with 5-pound weights, but a few times I thought maybe I would be better off with less weight.

And you are absolutely right about how good it is to have Pat on here with us! I had to laugh right out loud about the two of us coddling each other along, forward and backward indefinitely! I hope that we would be a LITTLE better than that, but the sad part is, I'm not quite sure!!
